The use of the abbreviations TB, GB and MB here
is taken to be that used in SI
and by hard disk manufacturers, ie. 10 12Bytes, 10 9, 10 6 and
10 3, rather than the convention used in computer
science. This page

The conversion rate is expressed in megabits (Mbit) per second. 1 byte (B) is 8 bits (bit), so there are 8 megabits (Mbit) in 1 megabyte (MB). Bits per second, kilobits per second, megabits per second etc., are commonly used to measure serial communication speeds as in the speed of modems and networks.
