Detailed Planning and the Prestospace Tools

The Prestospace project is commisioning a series of tools to assist in the planning and management of preservation projects. These tools range from simple analysis tools to help determine the size of collections, through integrated step by step project modeling tools, to fully adaptable spreadsheet analysis documents that are industry proven.

This tutorial relates most closely to our integrated project planning tool, which includes simplified analysis processes covering each stage of determining the work to be done in a preservation project. Full explanatory notes are integrated into the pages of the tool.

The model has eight pages, and data entered in each page is carried over to the next for further analysis. At any stage a user can save the model on their local machine for later uploading and continued analysis. Results are displayed in three main stages- an item condition assesment, a transfer cost assesment, and a storage costs assesment. At the conclusion of the model the entire analysis process and results can be downloaded as a spreadsheet in XLS format.
